This Week’s Nails is a new feature which basically does what it says on the tin! Every week I will upload some pictures of the ‘nail art’ on my nails. It’s a short but sweet post!
As this is the first post, I have included an image of my vintage manicure set my mum gave me, which I use on my nails.
It includes everything – from a nail file, nail clippers, cuticle sticks and scissors, to name a few! The items are packed in a beautiful brown box, which you click open at the top.
Now onto what varnishes I used to achieve this week’s animal print-effect nails! I decided to go for an orange leopard print feel – do orange leopards even exist? Probably not, but oh well!
I applied a base coat using the 2 in 1 top coat nail hardener, followed by two coats of Do Me A Flavour. I felt that I needed to do two coats with this nail varnish, as the colour is quite light and you could still see the true colour of my nails through it. Afterwards, I applied a top coat of the 2 in 1 nail hardener, and then finished off with placing black dots onto my nails with the Barry M liquid eyeliner.
Here are my nails:
As you can see, the spots aren’t to perfection! I’m a bit impatient with these things, and I usually go wrong and paint my fingers instead of my nails! But to say I haven’t painted my nails in three years, (I used to paint them ALL the time in high school) I think they look quite alright, if I do say so myself!
I thought that the Leighton Denny colour was a really nice shade of orange. It sort of goes well with my quite pale-olive skin tone. I’m not too sure about the price of it though – £11 is a bit steep for nail varnish, so I probably wouldn’t buy another varnish from there, unless I couldn’t buy a cheaper alternative to a LD colour I liked.
So there you go the first instalment of ‘This Week’s Nails’! Look out next week for another one of my attempts at nail art!
